This
was the first time I met Hannah at 3 weeks and 2 days old! Love at
first sight? I think so!

It was July 1993 Lorna's
birthday and we were taking the drive to Gosport in Hampshire on the south coast
of England, 150 miles from Kettering. Our purpose? to collect our new
puppy. kennel name: Kentee Madalane, who we had christened 'Hannah'. (Click
here to see Hannah's pedigree)
We stopped off in the New Forest to visit our friends Elaine
and Dudley and
Lorna had a birthday lunch, complete with birthday cake and a strangled chorus
of 'Happy Birthday to You'. Elaine and Dudley's Golden Retriever Hazel
made herself the centre of attention, greeting everybody with a loud "woooo
woooo hoooo!" That gave us a small taste of what we were in for as
retriever owners! |

We noticed she liked to sleep in
strange positions! 8½ wks |

|
Hannah's mum 'Honey'
(Sylvia of Gulls nest), didn't seem all that bothered about losing one of her babies, more
interested in stealing a bag of crisps from the coffee table!
Typical Retriever, tummy first, custody battles last! Hannah's
sire was 'Ben', (Brackengold Enigma),
owned by breeder Mrs Coward, at Ibsley in the New Forest Hannah was
the most beautiful bundle of golden fur I have ever seen, she even
smelled wonderful!
The journey home was
long and arduous, (lots of traffic) but Hannah was unconcerned and spent
most of the trip on Lorna's lap, looking out of the window at this strange
new world.
